To get a quick idea of what the article is about, turn the title into a preview question by using words like Who, What, Where, When, Why, or How.

| Now quickly read the following: |
- The entire first paragraph
- The first sentences only of the paragraphs that follow
- The entire last paragraph
|
| You will now have an educated guess for the following: |
- An answer to your preview question
- The topic of the article; who or what is this article about?
- What is main thing the author is saying about the topic (called the thesis)?
