Satellite Dishes

These are two satellite dishes that are in the back yard. The first one is a 5-meter dish. The second two pictures are of the 3-meter dish. The last picture is the computer-generated weather map that the weather satellites up in space beam down to the 3-meter satellite dish. They get processed through a homemade computer program that processes high speed image data. The orbital predictions have to be calculated beforehand to know where to point the antenna. You can see the entire West Coast on this map and as far east as Utah. Sometimes, depending on where the satellite is, you can see the Hawaiian Islands and the Great Lakes.
