Assignment #4 Tables

Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional

A table style useful for quilt or brick wall patterns

This is the table heading Itty bitty steps left Itty bitty steps right
Big Big Momma steps across this entire row!!! Lets see how long I have to type to make sure that the text vertically aligns at center of cell.
This time I'm going to span the middle rows when I get to the next table cell. This would be a neat way to make a patchwork quilt effect by using empty and full cells with and without background colors.
This time we're not empty.
Before cell is empty with no background color. This cell spans 2 columns.
This time I'm going to span the middle rows when I get to the next table cell. The before cell is also empty with no background colors.
I'm spanning the first 2 columns here. Whas up???

The above table demonstrates the following characteristics:
  • Table border as 5 pixels
  • Width as 700 pixels
  • Use of table heading tag
  • Empty cells with and without background color
  • No cell spacing demonstrating verticle alignment
  • Cell padding of 4 pixels
  • Using table captions
  • column and row spanning
  • background colors for table and for cells
  • verticle and horizontal alignment within cells
