The
Open Access Initiative is a world-wide movement that addresses the
crisis in the costs of scholarly journals for libraries and researchers.
OAI changes the way scholarly communications are published and disseminated
by publishing peer-refereed articles in digital formats on the Internet
and making them available to readers free of charge and free of copyright
and licensing restrictions.
SPARC-Scholarly

Change-Association of Research Libraries Initiative A resource for faculty and librarians working to change the
way scholarly articles are published and disseminated with the overall
mission of making scholarly journals affordable. Provides the frameword
and tools for local action.

Archives Initiative
First meeting organized in Santa Fe, 1999, and inspired by Dr. Steven
Harnad's 1994 "Subversive
Proposal." OAI now provides the metadata tagging standards
and registry for all OAI-compliant eprint archives.
ARC Cross Archives
Search Service
One of the first federated searching services based on the OAI protocol.Over
1 million metadata records from 80 data providers.
PubMed
Central An open-access archive of life sciences journals supported by
the U.S. National Library of Medicine and a SPARC Leading Edge partner.

Open Access Newsletter A weekly newsletter dedicated to the Open Access Movement moderated
by Peter Stuber, originator of the Free Online Scholarship movement,
